Our programs utilize the evidenced based practice of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These techniques are effective in developing a strong supportive empowering relationship with the clients so that they are an active participant in treatment.
MI is utilized to engage individuals in treatment. Many may have tried unsuccessfully in the past and are reluctant to invest the hope and trust necessary to try again.
This non-judgmental, non-confrontational and non-adversarial approach increases the client's awareness of the potential problems caused, consequences experienced, and risks faced as a result of the behavior in question.
Counselor empower clients by providing him or her with the necessary information, tools, and support to assist in change. Employing a collaborative rather than a confrontational style whereby counselors develop a strong rapport with clients and guide them through any initial ambivalence.
